| Wolfgang EffingMr. Wolfgang Effing born 1948 studied high-frequency engineering at the Technical University in Karlsruhe, with the main emphasis on optical communications. He started his professional career in 1976 as R&D engineer for optical telecommunication systems with AEG-Telefunken in Backnang. In 1980 he moved to Apparatebau Gauting (near Munich) as head of development for radiolocation systems and avionics. In 1984 he joined GAO, a subsidiary of Giesecke & Devrient in Munich, as head of development of smartcard systems and is today deputy CTO of Giesecke & Devrient. He has been member of several international and national standardisation committees for smartcards for many years. He is a DIN expert for CEN/TC 224 and member of the advisory board of DIN NIA and member of several national and international scientific committees. He is coauthor of the Handbuch der Chipkarten (Smart Card Handbook), the reference to every aspect of smart card technology. |
